The district of Bercy lies in the southern part of the 12th arrondissement (district). It is bordered by the Seine to the south-west, the Bois de Vincennes to the east, and by the neighbourhoods of Bel-Air and Picpus to the north-east. This area was once the site of countless warehouses storing large volumes of Burgundy wine in transit. Today, Bercy is best known for housing a vast performance space which hosts many well-known artists. Bercy also accommodates the Ministry of Finance building, and has a large shopping and leisure complex. Several bridges conveniently cross the Seine here, making it easy to reach the French National Library on the opposite bank.
